Producers Guild of America Supports New Talent with Debra Hill Award

As the founder of Shadow League Digital, Keith Clinkscales leads a unique online news network that combines sports reporting with cultural viewpoints relevant to the African-American community. A member of the advisory board of Howard University’s School of Communications, Keith Clinkscales also maintains membership in the Producers Guild of America (PGA).

A professional association for producers in the film, television, and new media industries, PGA supports its members in a variety of ways, including through offering the Debra Hill Fellowship. Established in 2005, the Debra Hill Fellowship honors a long-time member of the Producers Guild’s board of directors who was known for her mentorship as well as her passionate support of producers’ creative rights, women’s leadership, and environmental sustainability initiatives.

The fellowship seeks to provide significant financial support to up and coming producers who intend to use their career “to change the world.” To be considered for the award, candidates must be completing an accredited graduate program in producing and possess interests that mirror those of Debra Hill. The funds are not intended for educational expenses, but rather for furthering the recipient’s producing career. The 2018 Debra Hill fellow was Asia Coleman, who completed her studies at the American Film Institute.
