Former ESPN executive and founder of The Shadow League and Shadow League Digital, Keith Clinkscales has always been dedicated to quality journalism in all his endeavors. Keith Clinkscales is the recipient of numerous awards for his work in media, including twice receiving the Excellence in Journalism Award from the National Association of Black Journalists.
The NABJ, along with the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, each year jointly present the Ida B. Wells Award. It’s meant to showcase and give recognition to an individual or group of individuals who provide distinguished leadership in increasing access for people of color in journalism. Moreover, the award recognizes achievement in improving coverage for communities of color in American Media.
Ida B. Wells was a distinguished and fearless journalist and the editor and owner of the Memphis Free Speech and Headlight. Working around the turn of the last century, she gained widespread acclaim for her work championing an integrated society and urging black Americans to demand equal treatment in the modern world.
